How to Order
If you would like more information or wish to discuss a special portrait you have in mind, please contact me by phone or email. When we have reviewed your requirements you may send your digital photos via email or you may send them by regular mail. Once I have your pictures, we can discuss specifics and decide on the pose, background, coloring, etc.
Deposit and Payment
A 50% deposit is required once the commission has been accepted and before starting the portrait. I will email a copy of the preliminary layout and will begin the portrait upon your approval of this layout. When the portrait has been completed, I will email you a proof of the final artwork. Once you are completely satisfied with the portrait, I will then request the balance due prior to shipping the original to you.
I accept personal checks, certified checks, and credit card payments using Paypal. Checks should be made payable to: Susan H. Long, 3509 Admiralty Court, Orlando, FL 32812
Pet portraits are great gifts for holidays and special occasions. If you wish to give someone a portrait but would like to include them in the development process, you can present them with a beautiful Pet Portrait Gift Certificate. Your loved one will then be able to submit favorite photos and share their thoughts on the details of the portrait.
If you would like to share your painting with family and friends, note cards featuring your pet’s portrait are available. The folded size of the cards is 4 ¼” x 5 ½.” Cards are hand signed by the artist and come in packages of 5 cards for $10.00.
Turnaround time is about 6 to 8 weeks; however, as we approach the holiday season, the waiting time may be longer. If you have a special occasion and need a portrait for a specific date, let me know and I will try to work with you on this. If you are running short on time and we cannot meet your special deadline, you might consider purchasing a gift certificate.
Packaging and Shipping
Each painting is carefully packaged and insured and is shipped by UPS Ground. A shipping confirmation number will be emailed to you so you may track your package. One- to two-day delivery is also available upon request. Shipping and handling costs are calculated once the portrait size and shipping destination have been determined.
Outdoor lighting is best. Avoid harsh sunlight as this creates dark shadows and may affect the coloring. Take photos in early morning or late afternoon for best results. Avoid using flash if possible.
Photograph the subject at their level rather than overhead. For head shots, try to fill most of the frame with the animal’s head and neck. If you are using a digital camera, use a “high resolution” setting.
Several photos taken at different angles will help the artist to see your pet more clearly.
Please indicate the photo you prefer to be used for the portrait. This should be one that most represents the personality of your pet. Remember, good lighting and sharp focus are important in capturing a proper likeness. All photos will be safely returned with the finished portrait. If you live in the Orlando, Florida area, the artist is available to take photos for a $50 fee.
